I have read with interest the information from Hazen and from Levine
about the development and use of Configuration Checklists from the
Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM) to operationally define and
assess the implementation of their vision of an elementary school
science program. A configuration checklist lists major, key
components of the science program and provides a rubric for each
component that defines levels of implementation from no implementation
to implemented as intended. In a sense, a configuration checklist is
an operational definition of the science program that can be used to
guide observations, interviews, surveys to assess program
implementation.

Thank you Ned and Jane for sharing information about your work. Are
other projects developing operational definitions of the components of
the "program" they are implementing? Are other projects developing
configuration checklists according to CBAM?

I, and likely many Principal Investigators, would like to receive
copies of such checklists, assessment tools, or other forms of
operational definitions of program implementation. A review of such
documents helps us better understand the vision of science education
projects hold and can lead to the development of a common shared
vision across projects. I suggest that all projects that have
developed configuration checklists or other similar documents post a
brief message describing the document. Interested individuals can
contact the Principal Investigator to obtain a copy of the document.
However, if you have the document in electronic form, you could send
it via email (or on disk) to Joni Falk at TERC and she could make it
available on the LSC Web page (or point to the document on your web
page). Thank you for your participation and sharing of resources.
