I'm intrigued by the kinds of dialogues that seem to be emerging from
our interaction to date, but wonder who else is out there (I count
about 8 people who have "weighed in" and know around 40 subscribed).
If you haven't signed on, please let us know at least your name and
project and maybe whether and what kinds of leadership goals you
have. Thanks.
Some of the issues I'm observing so far in our discussions are: the
need for "infrastructure" to facilitate teacher leadership, i.e.,
Mark mentioned "collective leadership" and Dennis talked about a very
complex "site"-based support system for teachers' leadership. Another
issue is the nature of the preparation we provide teachers in the
various roles of leadership: professional development design,
facilitation skills, coaching/mentoring, presentation skills, etc.
Clearly there is no one direction to take on any of these. Again I
wonder whether the nature of the discipline and the level of
schooling make a difference. Any thoughts? Susan
