I just tried to find the Bay Area Writing Project on TEECH's database of
teacher enhancement projects, on their www page. But it isn't there. How
frustrating. The project sounds very interesting. How can I learn about
your project in detail, Dennis? Do you have a useful www page, for example?

school physics teachers who, like your teachers, are able and willing to be

Yes. From my reading about Marie Clay's reading recovery program, discussed
in Kenneth Wilson's book entitled REDESIGNING EDUCATION (Henry Holt, 1994;
call 800-488-5233; $27.50), it sounds as though Clay's program is an
example of where the mold has been broken. Wilson's book should be read by
all teacher enhancement PI's, I think. He is a Nobel prize winner in
physics who has really done his homework on educational reform. See this
