Greetings - I am Harvey Barnett, I am the Director of Instyruction, Technology
for the Cupertino Union School District in Cupertino, CA.

Our project is the Apple Classroom of Tomorrow Teacher Development Center
(ACOTTDC).

The focus is one helping classroom and preservice teachers redesign their
instructional program to incorpate the best practices of constructivist
learning and how to use technology to support instruction.

Teams of 2 teachers from a school attend a 5 day institute (acutally 3 days
one week and a 2 fay follow-up several weeks later). At the institute they
reflect on their present practices, examine the rationale for constructivist
learning, observe in the ACOT classrooms and develop a unit of practice that
incorporates new ways of doing things to implement when they return to their
site.

A 4 week summer institute is also offered.

Like many staff development projects our challenge is how to support, sustain
and increase their knowledge when they return to their classrooms. My interest
is in making this support work better.
Harvey
