1. WHAT'S THIS DISCUSSION ALL ABOUT?
A significant question voiced by PI's of Teacher of Enhancement grants was:
How to sustain projects after the period of funding ends?
Some of these questions involved supporting teachers after an initial period
of teacher enhancement. Others questioned the long term effects of teacher
enhancement projects and the most effective products that should emerge from such efforts. Still others questioned NSF's perspectives and expectations of sustainability.
During the first two weeks of this discussion we will be soliciting the questions you have regarding this subject. A panel discussion (to be presented in text and Real Audio via the web) will follow based on some of the question received. The listserv will then continue to address and gather
a variety of perspectives on this topic. Further panelist will be interspersed with the listserv conversation.
2. AUDIENCE
The invited audience for this discussion group is 500 PI's of Teacher
Enhancement grants. We recognize that Co-PI's may also be interested in
joining the conversation. Please share this invitation with them so that they
may subscribe as well.
3. WHO ARE WE? LET US INTRODUCE OURSELVES...
TEECH (Teacher Enhancement Electronic Communication Hall) is an NSF funded project aimed at fostering collaboration among PIs of teacher enhancement grants.
JONI FALK (joni_falk@terc.edu <joni_falk@terc.edu>) is the Content Moderator for the list. She
participates in the discussion, contributes material, and leads discussion when necessary.
BRIDGET MOONEY (bridget_mooney@terc.edu <bridget_mooney@terc.edu>) is the Technical Moderator for the list. She "listens" to the "Legacy" discussions and assists
subscribers in learning to use the mailing list instructions.
TERC is a non-profit education research and development
organization committed to improving mathematics and science
learning and teaching. TERC is located in Cambridge,
Massachusetts.
